Modesty

April 13th, 2009 / 8 Comments

Next month I will be speaking to a youth group on the topic of modesty.  I wrote a series on modesty, and had the privilege of interviewing Dannah Gresh for a podcast on “Is the Fashion Industry Sexualizing Our Kids?”.

I perused the blogosphere for more perspectives on this topic and came across a few sites I like. I hope you find this information useful as well.

*Sarah Mae at Like a Warm Cup of Coffee has a series called 10 Days to Modest! She gives a good explanation of modesty including a discussion about modesty and legalism.

*I just found Kristin. She has several great blogs – The Faithful Fashionista, and Beautifully Adorned, both talk about modesty in some way.

*Maidens of Worth is a blog written by a couple of women who desire to live pure lives.

  1. Thanks for the link love! Dannah is a great resource – I plan on using her books and attending her conferences as my girls get a little older.

  2. Dannah is gathering signatures to ask the fashion industry to promote more modest clothing. Please sign her petition here –

  3. Hi Katy! I found you on problogger in the SAHM thread. I have 3 children aged 16, 13 and 11. It’s great to meet another blogging mom of children that aren’t little! I am very lucky with my daughter, 13, in that she has no interest in provocative clothing or high fashion. She wants to wear modest clothing that is comfortable! (Maybe she learned that from me!) I have seen girls at our middle school dress inappropriately and then see that their moms dress that way also.

  4. Hi Gayle! Thanks for coming by. My 13 year old is modest too, but she likes to keep up with fashion. The size small in the teen stores are usually so tight that we often end up buying medium for her small frame.

  5. Thanks for posting about this important subject for mums/moms with daughters. The links are great too. All the best with the 31DBBB Challenge 😉

  6. You’re welcome SquiggleMum. I am glad to see other moms or mums, concerned with this issue.

  7. Hey there!
I did a search of my site’s name and was thrilled to see it come up in your post. It’s wonderful knowing that so many parents are aware of the importance of modesty. Thanks for mentioning Beautifully Adorned and The Faithful Fashionista- I’m looking forward to reading your posts on the subject as well!
    God bless!
