On Sunday morning we woke up early to make breakfast before church. I was cooking up some turkey sausages, my son was grilling blueberry pancakes next to me, my husband was dicing apples to put into our brown sugar oatmeal, and the girls were setting up the table. We sat down to a leisurely Sunday breakfast together. Then we left for church and arrived 10 minutes early because my son was ushering that day.

Someone pinch me, I must be dreaming!

Our Sunday mornings usually rushed with “Hurry up, wake up!” “Pour yourself some cereal and don’t forget your Bible.” “Start up the car while I print up my Sunday School lesson.”

But last Sunday we enjoyed THE PERFECT Sunday morning. I could take a million of these days together with my family. I wish I took a picture. Most memorable were:

1. My first time trying turkey sausages. I don’t buy sausages because of the nitrite preservatives in such foods as hot dogs and sausages. But the turkey sausages do not contain nitrites and they were good.

2. My son came into the kitchen and said, “How can I help you, mom?” Oh, I thought I died and went to heaven! That’s how he got to make pancakes.

3. We didn’t rush into the service at church, but had time to talk to people before it started. It made our worship experience more meaningful.

It’s wonderful for a family to cook together, eat together, go to church together. Chances are good that they will stay together.
