Debut novel based on events occuring during the Second World War. Vivien Carmichael, nurse and lone survivor of a massacre by Japanese soldiers, finds herself in a POW camp for the remainder of the war. In the camps she teaches Martin, a Dutch boy, to draw. Several years later Martin visits Vivien, reawakening painful memories. Explores themes of post trauma, loss and rebuilding lives. Author is an artist is currently completing a PhD.
