The Pout-Pout Fishby Deborah DiesenLoved by another parent with similar taste
The original tale of a mischievous little rabbit who disobeys his mother and sneaks into Mr. McGregor's garden. Peter eats too much, loses his shoes and jacket, and barely escapes โ arriving home just in time for bed (without supper). Beatrix Potter's beloved classic, first published in 1902, features her own charming watercolor illustrations and remains one of the best-selling children's books of all time.
The art alone makes this book worth buying. The story has a lot of words; it makes me wonder if children 100 years ago had a better attention span? I don't think my daughter paid close attention to every detailed word. But she enjoyed looking at the pictures! And since this book is a classic, I feel very high-brow just having it on my shelf.
