Northern Lights

Philip Pullman’s first His Dark Materials novel drops readers into a thrilling alternate world of daemons, armored bears, danger, and moral complexity. Northern Lights is excellent fantasy, but it is a more intense, older-kid/teen read than a simple middle-grade adventure.
