Dolphins swimming in the waters around Hilton Head Island are mammals who possess the defining characteristics of all mammals: they are vertebrates that breathe air with their lungs, are warm blooded, have hair at some stage of their lives, and bear live young who suckle milk secreted by mammary glands.
