Michael Jackson was just a little kid

June 26th, 2009 / 3 Comments

I grew up listening to Michael Jackson.  I’ll Be There, Ben, ABC, those oldies were my favorites.

Having grown up listening to him as part of the Jackson 5 before the days of MTV and his biggest hit Thriller, I always pictured Michael Jackson as a little kid, just a cute little kid.

But with his incredible talent came great expectations and pressures to market an image.

Maybe Michael Jackson didn’t complain about his life, maybe he did, I wouldn’t know. I just wonder if he would’ve traded it for a decent family, with nice parents, play Monopoly in the evening, ride his bike at the park, and no paparazzi.

Fame and fortune comes with a high price.

My hope is that all kids can  grow up with good childhood memories of home and family. That’s what parents are suppose to give to their kids.

  1. Yes, it’s strange and sobering to think that all of us (well, maybe most of us…) were once “cute little kids.

It was interesting to see also one of the Google ads that was displayed with this post – ironic thing to go with a post on Michael Jackson. Here’s a screenshot in case it’s a different ad next time someone looks.

  2. Sorry, my comment didn’t pull the screenshot. It was a link to a Free Sex Offender Report – FamilySafetyGuardian.com

Ironic, isn’t it, considering Michael Jackson’s perversity. He hasn’t been a cute little kid for a long, long time. He just lusted after them. Sad indeed.

  3. Rob, thanks for that interesting note on the ads 🙂
Michael Jackson is still an icon of this generation. There doesn’t seem to be any clean-living celebrities nowadays. Those just don’t sell. Sad indeed.
